What’s the difference between the print, digital and interactive versions?

The digital version (based on the Zinio platform) is an exact copy of the print magazine, in downloadable format for computers, tablets and some phones. The interactive version (currently only on iPad) is a next-generation digital magazine, built specially for tablet devices, with bespoke video and interactive features.

What devices does the Auto Express interactive edition work on?

Right now, just the Apple iPad, but we’re working on other platforms, including Android, Blackberry and others. Watch this space.

How do I get it?

Go to the App Store on your iPad, or the iTunes Store on your Mac and PC, and search for ’Auto Express magazine’. Click on download, and if you’re using iTunes on your computer to download it, sync your iPad to install it on your device.

I can’t get it to work! What now?

If you’re having any problems with the app not loading properly, or behaving strangely, this can usually be fixed by restarting the app and/or device to clear the memory.

To restart the app, return to the iPad home screen. Then double-click the Home button, and you should see a list of currently running apps at the bottom. Tap and hold the Auto Express icon until it wobbles, and a cross appears in its top-right corner. Tap the cross, press the home button, and relaunch the app.

To restart the iPad, hold down the power button and ’home’ button until you see the option to turn it off. Keep holding until the iPad reboots.

How much space will they take up on my iPad?

Right now, the interactive edition is around 500MB, but we’re working hard to keep the size down. On a decent internet connection, it should only take a couple of minutes - and it should certainly be quicker than going to the shops. The other good news is that you don’t have to wait for the whole issue to download before you start reading and, once you’re done, you can ‘archive’ the issue to reclaim the space.

Will I have to buy issues again if I archive them, or if I re-install the app?

No. Once you’ve bought the issue, it’s yours, and you can download them again as many times as you like. If you’ve deleted the app, you may be greeted with the ‘Buy’ option option, but once you tap on that, a dialogue box should appear to confirm that you’ve already bought it.
